Hard Fought Battle Leads to Trojan Victory

Pella, IA – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Men's Basketball Team traveled to Pella, Iowa to take on Central College as part of the Central Classic. This is the first meeting between the two teams. After a hard fought game that went into overtime, the Trojans earned the win.

  • Landon Hall led the team in points finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
  • Bryce Stark went 6-12 from the field on the night including 1-3 from three-point range, he also was 1-1 from the stripe and added five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.

  • Both teams played even in the first half, each shooting 11-27 from the field (40.7%) and draining four threes apiece.
  • The separating factor in the first half was free-throws, the Trojans went 5-9 from the stripe while Central College went 1-3, resulting in HLGU taking a 31-27 lead into the break.
  • The second half was more of the same with each team playing very evenly. With less than 10 seconds to go and the Trojans up 59-56, Central College's Drew Edwards pulled up for a three-point jumper and sunk it to send the game to overtime.
  • With 59 seconds to go in overtime, Roger Guardiola drilled a three for the Trojans to seal the win.
  • HLGU won the turnover battle, forcing 15 turnovers while only turning it over 11 times themselves.
  • They capitalized off these turnovers by scoring 14 points from them.
