Women's Basketball Battles with Central Baptist

Conway, AR – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team traveled to Arkansas Saturday to take on tough conference opponent Central Baptist College. The Trojans come in looking to build on the confidence and momentum coming from their tight battle with Missouri Baptist on Thursday night. The Mustangs come in looking to bounce back from a ten point defeat against Williams Baptist on Thursday.

STAT TRACKER
  • Ashlyn Vermeer led the team in scoring with 18 points going 8-13 from the field, including 2-2 from behind the arc. She also had four rebounds in the contest.
  • Jillian Lockard scored 14 points in the game while also recording six rebounds, and two assists.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • In a close first quarter, the Mustangs shot an impressive 60% from three-point range (3-5), to find themselves leading by seven at the break (12-17).
  • The Trojans came storming back in the second quarter making two three-pointers of their own (2-3) and converting on 5-6 free-throws.
  • At the half, HLGU was up by three (31-28).
  • The Trojans struggled shooting a bit in the third quarter going just 3-19 from the field while CBC was able to go 8-13 and take the lead back 49-39.
  • HLGU continued to fight throughout the fourth quarter but they were unable to overcome the Mustang lead.
  • The two teams were close in turnovers with CBC forcing 15 Trojan turnovers and HLGU forcing 12 from CBC. Central Baptist was able to capitalize off the turnovers by scoring 22 points, HLGU was able to score 12.
  • Central Baptist was also able to move the ball inside well as they scored 32 of their points from the paint. The Trojans scored 12 in the paint.
