Slow Start Limits Trojans Production

Marshall, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team played Missouri Valley College Tuesday night. After a slow start to the game and a rough first half, the Trojans found themselves down 50-17. HLGU was able to pick up the pace a little in the second half, but the damage was already done and the Trojans lost by a final score of 89-57. The Trojans will return home on Saturday November 12, to play Culver-Stockton at 1 pm as part of homecoming weekend.

STAT TRACKER
  • Ashlyn Vermeer led the team in points with 18 on the night after going 4-15 from the field and a perfect 10-10 on free-throws. She added five rebounds and two assists to her stat line.
  • Taylor Flake scored 15 points tonight, shooting 50% (5-10) on field goals and 5-6 from the free-throw line. She also had nine rebounds and two assists
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • After a very slow start in the first quarter, HLGU trailed by a score of 19-3.
  • The Trojans picked it up a little in second quarter but the Vikings had a very strong offensive quarter and they built their lead up to 50-17.
  • In the third quarter, HLGU was able to cut into the deficit a bit by shooting 52.9% in the quarter including 50% on threes and 100% on free-throws.
  • Turnovers still caused Hannibal-LaGrange problems tonight as they turned the ball over 21 times, resulting in 30 points for MVC.
  • The Trojans were out-rebounded 50-40 in the game.
