Women's Basketball Closes Out Season in Arkansas

Conway, AR – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team took on Central Baptist College Monday night in the first round of the AMC Women's Conference Basketball Tournament. The last meeting between the two schools resulted in a HLGU defeat but it was a close game throughout and built some confidence for the Trojans.

STAT TRACKER
  • Ashlynn Vermeer dropped 12 points to lead the team in scoring while also recording six rebounds.
  • Sarah Eagleton came off the bench to score nine points and grab two rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • The first quarter was a tight battle through the first five minutes as it was tied 6-6. The Mustangs then went on a seven-point scoring run to take control of the momentum and go into the break up 16-8.
  • CBC carried their momentum into the second quarter as they shot over 50% from the field and extending their lead to 20 before the half.
  • HLGU battled in the third and out-shot Central Baptist from the field, shooting 44.4% while CBC shot just 13.3%.
  • HLGU stayed competitive and fought to the end but it was not enough as they came out on the losing end of a 63-40 final.
  • The Mustangs forced 23 Trojan turnovers and scored 28 points from them while HLGU forced 12 CBC turnovers and scored just four points from them.
  • Central Baptist pulled in 40 rebounds and the Trojans grabbed 34.
