Hannibal, MO - It is with great pride and gratitude that we announce the recipients of the
2024–2025 Ivan Oliver Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award.
This award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete who are selected by the HLGU coaching staff based on outstanding athletic performance, academic progress, and Christian character that reflects the mission and values of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
We are honored to recognize the following individuals for their remarkable contributions to HLGU Athletics:
Josh Talton – Men's Basketball
Outstanding Athletic Performance:
- 1st Team All-AMC (2025)
- AMC Newcomer of the Year (2025)
- NCCAA All-Region (2025)
- NCCAA National Tournament All-Tournament Team
Outstanding Academic Progress:
- Senior Sport & Recreation Management major
- 3.7 cumulative GPA
A Character Representative of HLGU:
- Strong Christian witness and spiritual leader within the team
- Actively involved in his local church
- Invests in the next generation by training young basketball players during the summer
Maggie Tollison – Softball
Outstanding Athletic Performance:
- Three-year starter for the Lady Trojans
- Consistent team leader in hitting each season
- HLGU's all-time leader in career stolen bases (60+)
- Served as a graduate assistant for the past two years, continuing her leadership off the field
Outstanding Academic Progress:
- 3.8 GPA
- Completing her master's degree at HLGU this spring

- Demonstrates unwavering Christian character
- Actively supports and engages in the mission of HLGU
- A model student-athlete both on and off the field
