Trojans Battle Down Two Players to Earn Scoreless Draw

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal-LaGrange University and Central Baptist College battled to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon, with neither team able to find the back of the net through 90 minutes of play.

The Trojans moved to 5-5-3 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play, while Central Baptist improved to 3-4-4 overall and 0-0-1.

Central Baptist controlled much of the offensive possession throughout the contest, finishing with a 24-5 advantage in shots and a 13-5 edge in shots on goal. Despite the offensive pressure, Hannibal-LaGrange goalkeeper Cornelius Waibel kept the Mustangs off the scoreboard, making 13 saves in the full 90 minutes.

Hannibal-LaGrange had several opportunities of its own, with Ayman Kaouch, Caio Lobo, Henry Castillo, Pedro Melchert and Diego Domiguez-Stremmel each recording a shot. Kaouch and Domiguez-Stremmel put their attempts on target, forcing saves from Central Baptist goalkeeper Maxwell Kruit.

The Trojans were forced to play shorthanded for significant portions of the match after receiving two red cards. Henry Castillo was sent off in the sixth minute, while Daniel Valseca Vidal received a red card in the 61st minute.
Central Baptist continued to apply pressure following the second red card, but the Trojans' defensive effort and Waibel's goalkeeping prevented the Mustangs from breaking through. Hannibal-LaGrange recorded its lone corner kick in the 84th minute, while Central Baptist finished with two corner kicks.

Despite Central Baptist's shot advantage, neither side could produce a goal, as the match ended 0-0.

Hannibal-LaGrange will look to build on the defensive performance as the Trojans continue their 2026 season.
