McDonald Leads Way As Trojans Advance To AMC Tournament Semi-Final

Springfield, Mo. — The Hannibal-LaGrange University Men's Basketball Team advanced to the American Midwest Conference semifinals with a hard-fought 70-57 victory over Harris–Stowe State University Thursday night at Mission University. The Trojans' balanced attack and timely defense allowed them to control the second half and secure a postseason win, moving one step closer to a potential conference championship.

Ian McDonald led the Trojans with 18 points, connecting on 4-of-8 three-pointers and adding nine rebounds and four assists.

Davaughn Hueitt added 15 points on 4-of-12 shooting and was perfect from the free-throw line (7-of-7), also contributing six rebounds and six assists.

Josh Talton and Josiah Talton each chipped in nine points, with Braylon Diggs adding eight points and six rebounds.

For Harris-Stowe, Nashawn Davis led all scorers with 16 points, while Umar Lawson contributed 11 and Dimitrije Stojanovic added seven.

Hannibal-LaGrange shot 38.5 percent from three-point range in the second half and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe overall, turning key possessions into points.

The Trojans' bench added 13 points, complementing a strong defensive effort that limited Harris-Stowe to just 12 points in the paint after halftime.

Hannibal-LaGrange outrebounded the Hornets 39-37 and scored 14 points off turnovers, allowing the team to steadily pull away in the final 10 minutes. The largest lead of the game reached 18 points late in the second half, sealing the victory and securing the Trojans' spot in the AMC semifinals.
