Hannibal, MO -  The Hannibal-LaGrange University men's soccer team turned in a strong defensive performance Saturday, shutting out Indiana University Northwest, 2-0.

The Trojans controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the RedHawks 19-9 and putting eight shots on target. HLG also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, Hannibal-LaGrange broke through in the 42nd minute. Caio Logo found the back of the net at 41:06, with Diego Dominguez-Stremmel providing the assist. The goal gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

HLG continued to pressure Indiana Northwest throughout the second half, but the RedHawks' defense kept the Trojans off the scoreboard for most of the period.

With less than four minutes remaining, Hannibal-LaGrange finally added some insurance. Marco Antonio Ramos scored at 86:21 on an assist from José Benavidez Ortiz, extending the Trojans' lead to 2-0.

The HLG defense then held firm in the closing minutes to preserve the shutout.

Both teams' goalkeepers recorded six saves, but the Trojans' advantage in offensive pressure ultimately proved decisive.

With the victory, Hannibal-LaGrange improved to 3-3-2 on the season, while Indiana Northwest fell to 4-3-0.

The Trojans will look to carry the momentum from Saturday's performance into their next match.
