About David

David Santiago Florez Diaz joins the HLGU Men's Soccer program as a freshman from Funza, Colombia. A graduate of Salesiano San José de Mosquera, David brings a competitive spirit, strong discipline, and a passion for continuous improvement to both the classroom and the soccer field.

Pursuing a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, David is committed to developing as a student, athlete, and leader while representing HLGU.

Before arriving at HLGU, David competed at a high level with Fortaleza, participating in the U17 Metropolitan League, Metropolitan Tournament, and National Tournament beginning in November 2024. He continued his development by competing in the U20 Metropolitan and National Tournaments throughout 2025 and 2026.

David participates in athletics because he loves competition and constantly challenging himself to improve. He enjoys pushing his body and mind beyond their limits while measuring his performance against other talented athletes who inspire him to become better every day.

He also values the discipline that athletics requires. Training, nutrition, recovery, and commitment are essential parts of his daily life and have helped shape who he is both on and off the field.

Athletics has helped David become a resilient and mentally strong individual. Through competition, he has learned how to overcome setbacks, deal with disappointment, and continue moving forward after difficult moments.

Sports have also developed his competitive mindset, motivating him to strive for excellence in every area of life. Whether in athletics, academics, or future professional pursuits, David approaches challenges with determination and a desire to be the best version of himself.
