Dan Capp has taken over the Head Coaching duties at Hannibal-LaGrange University effective March 13, 2020.
Coach Capp was a three-time NAIA National Qualifier and was selected as an NAIA All-American in his senior year. He sat out his junior year due to a season-ending injury. Through a lot of perseverance and hard work, Capp was able to recover and had an exceptional ending to his collegiate career. Capp attended Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, MO, where he was a Missouri State High School place winner and three-time Missouri State High School qualifier.
Since 2015, Capp has been the assistant coach at Williams Baptist University. Capp has helped coach the Eagles to become one of the top programs in the American Midwest Conference and achieve NAIA national prominence for many years. WBU has been ranked as high as third in the NAIA Coaches' Top 20 poll. He has coached two NAIA National Champions, nine All-Americans and 31 National Qualifiers in his four seasons while helping the Eagle Team.
Jason Nichols, Athletic Director, says, "Coach Capp is the type of well-rounded person that we're really excited about. He embraces HLGU's Christ-centered mission, has some very valuable coaching experience at a nationally prominent program, and is very ambitious about working hard to build this program into a strong future. HLGU is blessed to have Coach Capp at the university and I'm confident in the leadership he will bring."
Coach Capp is excited to take the reins at his alma mater. Capp stated, "I fell in love with HLGU as a student and wrestler. I want to give back to the institution that gave so much to me. I also want to invest in the lives of my wrestlers and build a successful program moving forward."
Capp graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.  He continued his education from Southern Arkansas University to earn his Master's Degree in Kinesiology and Coaching in 2018. Â
