Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Strikes Early Against Hornets

Hannibal, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Soccer Team started the day off celebrating their lone senior, Katie Few.  She has been sidelined for much of the season but dressed and started today.  She hit the initial kick off and was subbed out to applause from both teams and fans.  HLGU hosted Harris-Stowe State University for the final home game of the season and it did not disappoint.  The Trojans got on the board early and surprised the Hornets with a goal in the eighth minute.  The goal was a great cross into the box and finish by Freshman, Faith Bridges.  The ladies sat deep into their defensive half for the remainder of the first half and held a 1-0 lead at halftime.  But with about 10 minutes remaining, HSSU evened the game on a dangerous cross into the box.  Then in the final two minutes of the game, the Hornets got their first lead and held on for the win.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH NICHOLS
  •  "Overall, so proud of their effort and taking the lead and holding for so long against a quality team. So hard to have the tying goal be an own goal, but that's part of the game. We'll be ready for Woods on Saturday.."
