HLGU Falls In Home Opener to Wildcats

Hannibal, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team took on Culver-Stockton College Tuesday night at home for a non-conference matchup. The second meeting between the two teams in the last two weeks. The Wildcats claimed victory over the Trojans in the last meeting 80-64.

STAT TRACKER

  • Junior Eliana McClarie came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 10 points going 2-6 from behind the arc and 4-8 from the field.
  • Jillian Lockard tallied 31 minutes played finishing with eight points, three rebounds, and one assist.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

  • After a slow start and being down five points 4:30 into the first quarter, the Trojans went on a 11-0 run in the next four minutes to take the lead 13-7. 
  • The Trojans would take a two point lead into the end of the first quarter (15-13).
  • The Wildcats came out quick in the second quarter while the Trojans were sluggish being held to only two points in the first 5:30 of the quarter, allowing the Wildcats a 12-0 run.
  • The Wildcats were able to convert off Trojan fouls going 15-21 from the free-throw line (71.4%) compared to the Trojans 2-4 (50%).
  • The Trojans were out-rebounded 36-24 in the contest.
  • The two teams tied in the turnover margin with 13 apiece though the Wildcats were able to take advantage of those turnovers scoring 14 points off turnovers compared to the Trojan's seven.
