Lady Trojans Return to Action in Arkansas

Walnut Ridge, AR – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team was back in action Thursday after a string of exhibition games over the holidays as they traveled to Arkansas to take on Williams Baptist University for a conference matchup. The Eagles come in off two double digit wins in a row and the Trojans come in off their own double digit win.

  • Ashlyn Vermeer recorded a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
  • Taylor Flake went 5-10 from the field scoring 11 points while adding two assists, two steals, and one rebound.

  • The Trojans went 6-15 from the field in the first quarter while the Eagles shot 11-19 and took a 13-point lead into the break.
  • Neither team shot well in the second quarter with neither of the two shooting over 30%. WBU held a 16-point lead at halftime.
  • While each team shot relatively even in the third quarter, Williams Baptist shot well when given the opportunity at the free-throw line, allowing them to extend their lead.
  • HLGU was able to convert on 70% of free-throw attempts going 14-20 from the line, WBU shot 65.9% going 27-41.
  • The two teams were even in rebounds with each pulling in 37 boards.The Eagles were able to force 25 Trojan turnovers while HLGU was able to force only 13 WBU turnovers.

  • "We had to many turnovers but we got the shots we wanted.  Need to find a way to get more defensive stops throughout the game."
