Harris-Stowe Tops Lady Trojans on Second Trip to STL

St. Louis, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Women's Basketball Team took on Harris-Stowe State University Wednesday evening in St. Louis in a conference matchup. The last matchup between the two schools was recorded as a forfeit loss for HLGU. A huge third quarter performance by HSSU catapulted them to victory.

  • Taylor Flake led the team in scoring with 15 points after going 7-11 from the field. She also had three rebounds on the night.

  • After a back and forth first quarter, the scored some timely points near the end to take a single point lead into the break (11-10).
  • The Hornets started off the second quarter hot with a quick 11-2 run but HLGU clawed their way back to go into the half tied at 21 points apiece.
  • Harris-Stowe's offense exploded in the third quarter shooting 71.4% (5-7) from behind the arc. They would take a 48-33 lead into the fourth.
  • Despite their best efforts, the Trojans could not dig out of the hole and ended up losing 63-45.
  • HLGU turned the ball over 22 times leading to 25 points for Harris-Stowe while they forced 13 Hornet turnovers leading to 13 points.
  • The turning point in an otherwise very evenly matched game was the three-point shooting performance by the Hornets in the third quarter propelling them to the win.
