Men's Basketball Moves to Third Place Game

Winona Lake, IN – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Men's Basketball Team matched up with Baptist Bible College for the second semi-final contest of the NCCAA National Basketball Championships Thursday night. After a tough battle, the Patriots defeated the Trojans 90-63. HLGU will take on Carolina University Saturday at 10 a.m. for the third place game.

  • Kaden Eirhart led all scorers tonight with 26 points thanks to six made three-pointers. He also had four rebounds, three steals, and one assist. 
  • Bryce Stark recorded 13 points, three rebounds, and one steal.
  • Grant Peters had 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one block. 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • BBC was able to put together a 17-1 run in the first half to go up 19-6 with 12 minutes to go in the first half. 
  • HLGU shot 25% (9-36) from the field in the first half compared to BBC's 60.6% (20-33).
  • The Patriots also went 7-13 (53.8%) from three-point range in the half while the Trojans went 4-12 (33.3%). 
  • At the half, HLGU found themselves down 50-30. 
  • Kaden Eirhart put up 16 points for the Trojans in the second half after going 4-6 on three-point attempts. 
  • HLGU was out-rebounded 47-38 on the day. 
  • The Patriots were able to score 12 second chance points over the game while the Trojans were only able to score four. 
THOUGHTS FROM COACH DURST 
  • "Tonight was a tough loss, we could not overcome our slow start. We had some guys step up and play well, hoping to build some confidence off that for Saturday."
