Men's Basketball Squeaks Out Win Over Saints

Hannibal, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Men's Basketball Team faced off against Central Christian College of the Bible Tuesday night for their home opener. Three Trojans finished with double digits in scoring as HLGU defeated the Saints 56-55 in an exciting contest. The Trojans will be back in action, at home, on Saturday afternoon at 3 PM against Culver-Stockton College.

  • Khalib Becton led the team in scoring tonight with 16 points after shooting 7-10 from the field. He added three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

  • With six minutes to play, Khalib Becton hit a jump shot to tie the game at 47 and kickstart a 7-0 run.
  • With 1:15 left in the game, Khalib Becton made the layup that would seal the 56-55 win for the Trojans.
  • The Trojans were the benefactors of 17 points off 15 Saint turnovers.
  • Overall, HLGU shot 24-58 (41.4%) from the field and 4-18 (22.2%) from behind the arc.
  • This marks the third year in a row that the Trojans have defeated the Saints making the all-time series 3-0 in favor of HLGU.
