St. Louis, MO - The Hannibal-LaGrange University Baseball Team picked up their second AMC series win of the season last weekend. After the Trojans struck first, going up 4-0 in the top of the first inning in the first game, the Hornets stung back with 3 of their own runs in the bottom of the inning. HSSU tied the game at four in the sixth before the Trojans three hits together to score a couple runs in their half of the seventh and taking the game 6-4. HLGU's bats could not keep up with the Hornets in game two however, falling 16-6 despite picking up 12 hits. In a thrilling series finale, the Trojans battled back from an early 3-0 deficit by chipping away with runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings. HLGU then exploded with five runs in the eighth to take a 7-4 lead. The Trojans added two insurance runs in the ninth thanks to a no-doubt two run shot off the bat of Isaiah Hoelscher to seal a 9-4 win. HLGU will travel to Walnut Ridge to take on Williams Baptist in their next series next weekend.
