Ozark, MO - The Hannibal-LaGrange University Baseball Team traveled to Springfield to take on Mission University to open AMC play. The Trojans battled hard in each game, but ultimately fell in all four. Tanner Malusky turned in a quality start on the mound in game one, giving up one run in five innings of work, but HLGU could not push any runs across the plate falling 2-0. The Patriots offense exploded in game two, beating the Trojans 18-4. HLGU was held scoreless in game three until the fourth inning, when Cole Arndorfer knocked in Isaac Philips with an RBI single to right field. The Trojans would push across one more run off the bat of Leo Ibarra in the seventh inning before dropping the game 5-2. Mission took an early lead in game four, going up 1-0 in the second inning before Charlie Culp tied the game with a single in the top half of the third. Philips homered to left, scoring Culp to put the Trojans up 3-1. Mission would go up 4-3 going into the Trojan's half of the seventh inning. HLGU was threatening with runners on second and third with two outs in the inning when Arndorfer lined out hard to second to end the game. HLGU will take on Missouri Baptist University for a four game set on Saturday, March 1 and Monday, March 3.
