Tim Hickman Named Interim Head Women's Basketball Coach at HLGU
HANNIBAL, Mo. – Hannibal-LaGrange University is pleased to announce the hiring of Tim Hickman as Interim Head Coach of the Women's Basketball program for the 2025–2026 season.
Coach Hickman brings a strong blend of basketball knowledge, leadership experience, and spiritual focus to the position. Most recently, he served as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at John Wood Community College for the 2024–25 season, contributing to player development and team success at the collegiate level.
No stranger to HLGU, Hickman previously worked as a Men's Assistant from 2020 to 2024 and has remained deeply connected to the university community. A graduate of Culver-Stockton College with a degree in Sports Management, he also holds an associate's degree from John Wood Community College—where he was a student-athlete and later returned as a coach.
Beyond the court, Hickman is a successful small business owner and a devoted follower of Christ. He is an active member of The Crossing Church in Quincy, Illinois, and views coaching as a ministry opportunity. "I want to run a program that helps student-athletes grow both as competitors and as followers of Christ," Hickman said. "I'm excited to do that at a university where faith and education go hand in hand."
The interim designation reflects the timing of the hire and Coach Hickman's desire to balance professional responsibilities with family life. He will begin reaching out to players and recruits immediately as preparations begin for the 2025–26 season.
"Tim is a tremendous fit for HLGU," said Athletic Director Clay Biggs. "He brings experience, energy, and a deep understanding of who we are as a Christ-centered athletic program. We're confident he will lead the women's basketball program with excellence and care."
